The Empowered Birth Method

    Along with being a Doula, Prenatal Yoga Instructor, Massage therapist and nurse I am also a highly experienced Childbirth educator, Lactation educator, and Infant Care educator.

I have started a very successful childbirth series called the Empowered Birth Method.  This is a series put together created from all of my education, knowledge and wisdom into one method to help prepare future parents for everything they need to know and how to apply their knowledge to the experience.  This series caters very much toward natural(unmedicated) birth wishes however I customize my series to whatever the individual needs are, If that includes medication or intervention I help to prepare and educate them on their options.

Another piece that makes this method unique is I add in a lot of practice for the big day.  We focus on labor rhythms, specialized yet easy breathing techniques, labor positions and comfort techniques.  I also bring in some yoga sessions to the method.  I am a strong believer that getting the mind, body and heart together in one unit really helps to create a amazing birth experience.  We also focus on alleviating fears and mental, emotional blocks that are creating fear.  We discuss these things along with very effective relaxation, visualization and positive affirmation techniques.

I get to know my clients and their specific needs.  These classes are private and times on your own terms.  Your series will be specialized toward what you want for your birth.  I believe very much in you walking away from this series feeling empowered, confident and ready for what is ahead.

I am proud to say that those clients that are taught my series I find to have a very high success rate of them walking away from their births feeling positive about their experience.  They also feel ready for infant care.  I do also provide Infant care education and Lactation education so my students/clients are set well on their way to feeling like experts with their first steps into the world of adulthood.

As an Infant Care Specialist I am trained and skilled in newborn care. I provide unique expertise in all aspects of newborn care, parental education and support.  My job is to help nurture and care for newborns while providing guidance and education for the parents.  This is a combination of a Postpartum doula, baby nurse, infant educator in infant development and advanced nanny.  This is filling a nitch that has not been filled as much in our country.  While other countries are benefiting greatly from services such as these.

I can care for your Infant when you are working, shopping or needing time to yourself.  I also work side by side with you giving you loving guidance on how to help your little one through their development in the first 6months to 1 year or whatever you wish.  As a specialist I have years of experience working with many newborns/infants.  There are excercises that can assist your newborn to physically and mentally excell through their infancy giving them a great headstart into childhood.  This is a program that that has great success in giving the babies first months to year the healthiest, happiest developmental potential for each individual infant.  It is a combination of muscle development and reflex exercise preparing for crawling and walking. Exercises to help develop their brain  using colors, shapes, pictures.  Eye coordination development through the use of fun time with toys and story time with books and pictures.  Language exercises, the beginning of the Infant understanding sounds, words and communication.  We can even evaluate bi-lingual options. The continual guidance with the parent through each quickly changing developmental moment.  Here are more specifics of what I can do for you.

-Breastfeeding/lactation.  Succesful problem solving.

-Assistance in understanding breast pumps and milk storage, making it easy.

-General Infant care education and assistance.  Swaddling, bathing, soothing techniques and much more.

-Music therapy, aromatherapy, nature therapy, tummy time.

-Finding the best way to work around babies sleep/feeding schedule so both parents are able to be productive and recieve more rest.

-Eventual sleep scheduling when the baby and you are ready.

-Helping to prepare you and baby for crawling, walking, talking.  Ensuring your house is safe and ready for each stage.

-Assistance in the transition to solid food.  How to make your own solid food easily if you wish.  Nutritional guidance for the transition.

-Infant massage which makes a massive difference in the babies digestion or any upper or lower gastric issues.  Babies sleep longer, are overall healthier, have productive and enjoyable awake time and eat much more with very little issues meeting optimum weight requirements.

-I have helped many babies having problems with digestion and breastfeeding with amazing results through all of the techniques that I have learned through these wonderful years.

-I am certified in Infant first aide and CPR.  I worked in Mother/Baby, postpartum, and NICU which gave me lots of knowledge in helping babies through issues that arise and helping parents.

All of my abilities are there for you to choose and form fit the exact care and service that you wish for your child.  I do not walk into your home and tell you how to raise your baby.  I work with you and your partner.  We bring in your own beliefs and wishes for your child.  I help you find your own natural instincts and abilities as a parent.  I want to help empower you through the process giving you the same successful progress that  your infant will be experience.  

Most importantly this is your little miracle, your child and I am there to respect you.  I am non-judgmental and understanding of your beliefs, lifestyle and individual needs.  We walk step by step together, communicating and learning what is best for you and your Infant together as a team.  

I have had such amazing success with my program as an Infant specialist.  Watching infants develop to the highest of their potential, ranking high on percentiles, impressing physicians and other experts on their developmental advancements.  Along with just plain happy and healthy, well adjusted Infants ready for the steps into toddler hood and preschool.

Prenagnacy and Infant Consierge Service:

As a Pregnancy and Infant Concierge I will offer education, direction assistance very similarly to what is written above.  The difference being that I will not plan on doing prolonged infant care.  Usually home visits for a few hours at a time or whatever you need for the service you wish.  I will help you in preparation for you infant.  Childbirth Education, Breastfeeding Education, Child Care Education. Prenatal Yoga, Prenatal Massage. I can  Help you put together the Nursery, Items that are actually needed and not needed. Clothing, bottles, pumps.  How to find deals while getting quality items.  You can save hundreds of dollars knowing what you really need.  We also offer Prenatal Photography.

After baby is born I will come for home visits to assist helping you adjust with your little ones individual and specific needs.  As written above under (Infant Care Specialist) I will show you different exercises you can do with baby to help insure highest Brain, motor and speech development potential.  All the tricks of the trade from an expert with years of experience in calming and working with babies. You can also learn how to do Infant Massage. 

I can come to your home if your having issues breastfeeding or bottle feeding.  I am fantastic at trouble shooting any kind of infant care issues.  Collic, sleeping schedules, digestion and upper/lower gas issues, general care issues.

You can form fit whatever services you would like from the Concierge service and I will work with you on a reasonable price for your wishes.

Since most people don't have the kind of assistance really needed to prepare for baby and how to get through labor and delivery and then care for baby, this service really makes big a difference.  This creates parental confidence and ease, very positive path for you and your baby through transition and sense of well being through this big change.  I will walk with you hand in hand as an educational support by doing home visits and phone calls.  Please call and learn more about this opportunity

Prenatal Yoga classes:

I do teach a prenatal yoga series at Rose Medical series that is a 4 part series.  I also teach this same class privately to many students as well in their own homes.

This series is different from most Prenatal Yoga.  You get the benefits of the yoga while also taking a step beyond in preparing your mind and emotions for the journey ahead through relaxation techniques and discussions.  I focus very much on helping you to truely grasp how empowered you are, how capable you are and how to trust your body and go with the flow.  I find combining this with the yoga sets students up for great success toward birth as well. 

We also practice some breathing techniques and labor positions, labor rhythms.

Massage Therapy Services:

  My main specialty is prenatal/postnatal/infant massage, I have extended training in the anatomy/physiology of the pre/post natal woman and infants.  There are specific techniques as well as certain health/safety awareness's of the pre/post natal body as well as infants that have been included in my massage training.  

I also offer Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular,Prenatal, Infant massage, Sports, Shiatsu and Reflexology massage and Aromatherapy.  I will work with you to determine the best modality for your body!

I also offer Reiki (Energy work) as well as chakra realignment with crystal healing for  those who are interested.  This is perfect for an individual who has chronic pain or fibromyalgia because there is very little physical contact.  It can be surprisingly helpful for such clients. 

Infant Massage Course:

Studies conducted at the University of Miami Medical Center's Touch Research Institute, show that premature babies who were massaged every day developed more rapidly both physically and neurologically than nonmassaged premature infants. Many hospitals are now adopting Infant Massage as a regular part of their parent education programs to help promote well-being and the loving bonds between parents and their babies.

She worked with us for about 6 months with our Son.  It is hard to describe exactly what her role was, like a combination of a super nanny, nurse, therapist and teacher all in one.  I can't really classify what she is and certainly can't find words for the amount of gratitude my husband and I have toward her.  We found out about her from our hospital where she taught classes and gave her a call.  We were looking for a post-partum doula or a really good nanny.  We knew from the moment of meeting her we had an angel in our house.  We had some struggles with breastfeeding, a bout with clogged ducts and problems with pumping while I was trying to get back to work part time.  It seemed like every corner we turned with a new situation with our baby, Liberty was there to guide us. Liberty visited me when my baby was just 40 hrs old.  We had been home with our new baby for only a day when we realized he was not passing any stool since he was born.  He started to jaundice a bit and he was wailing and crying most of the time when he was awake.  We called in Liberty to the rescue and she truely was a miracle worker with our baby.  She taught us how to do infant massage and the digesting massage.  After just one massage our baby passed a huge stool in just 1 hour!  My husband and I became believers because our baby boy was completely better.  She also gave me great pointers on breastfeeding and things we could do to sooth him.  Our baby boy is doing amazingly well now that we are doing infant massage every day.

My baby was having a very hard time with reflux and was spitting up after every feeding.  I felt horrible because I thought my breast milk was the best for my baby but it was making him miserable, or so I thought.  After many visits to the doctor and nutritionists who had me do elimination with my diet to figure out what foods were making my daughter sick and nothing worked.  The doctor prescribed us an antacid for her and that wasn't helping either.  The doctor said we just have to wait or else start feeding formula.  I felt as though my body failed and I failed.  I blamed myself for what was happening.  As a last attempt I had heard about Liberty from a friend who said she was incredible at helping babies.  Liberty came over and showed me infant massage and some other techniques and tricks that were up her sleeve.  After just 2 days of doing this massage for 10 min. in the morning and night our baby started to improve...I was still breastfeeding.  Then after a week our baby was not nearly as colicky and almost never spitting up anymore.  Liberty also helped me understand that there is a lot going on in a babies belly and that it isn't always the mother's milk.  I saw the proof of that when I started doing the techniques she showed me.  It has been 3 months now and my daughter really does seem like the happiest baby on the block.  No more issues and yes I am still breastfeeding!!!!

We hired Liberty and her husband Mike to do photography sessions with us.  We had prenatal pictures taken and also Infant pictures when our little girl was 3 months old.  Mike is incredibly talented at photography.  For half the price they both came to our home and set up an entire photo studio.  Liberty would run around and put together the set/scene while Mike handled the lights and camera.  They worked so well together.  We felt comfortable and relaxed and most of all we had fun.  The pictures turned out amazing!!!  Instead of going to a studio and spending a ton with a cold photographer hire Liberty and Mike.  Not only will you have great pictures but also a fun experience.
